Tiffen Digital Camera Lens FiltersYou'd be surprised how big a difference a little filter can make on the pictures you take. VidPro TT-800 TripodEvery serious photographer needs a tripod for his or her camera, to keep low-light pictures from jittering. VidPro makes a full line of camera tripods, and my favorite is the TT-800. It extends to 55'' in height and has a three-way pan head with a large quick-release platform. For even steadier pictures, the TT-800 has a built-in center column stabilizer and lock, along with flip-lock legs with rubber nonskid feet.
Minolta Auto Meter VFMinolta's Auto Meter VF is a multifunction light meter with simple operation and exceptional accuracy. It has a large, easy-to-read LCD display; recommended shutter speed appears on the left, aperture on the right. It even has an analyze function, which displays the flash/ambient lighting ratio. Hold it out, press a button, and let it tell you what settings to use.
Hoodman LCD HoodsSeeing your camera's LCD screen is a particular problem outdoors on a sunny day, which is why you might want to consider using an LCD hood. Hoodman sells a variety of rubber hoods that fit over any LCD screen and turn your open-to-the-elements monitor into a hooded viewfinder. Each Hoodman hood incorporates a 2X magnifier to allow close focus on the LCD screen and provides glare-free viewing; they're also good for use with camcorders.
Epson Perfection 4180 Photo ScannerA digital camera isn't the only way to create digital photos; you can also scan in photo prints and slides via a photo scanner. One of the best mid-price photo scanners out there is the Epson 4180, which offers 4800 x 9600 resolution, as well as a built-in adapter for scanning 35mm negatives, slides, and medium-format transparencies. Connection is via USB, and the one-step photo restoration feature helps you quickly restore faded prints when you scan.
SanDisk Photo Album ViewerSanDisk's Photo Album lets you easily view your digital photos on any TV. Just connect the Photo Album to your TV, insert a memory card or USB flash drive, and settle back for a digital slideshow no computer necessary. Press the store button and the Photo Album automatically creates an onscreen photo album, complete with background music. The enter operation is controlled by the included remote control unit.
