RIPv2 Multicasting

RIPv2 multicasting enables the simultaneous delivery of routing table updates to multiple neighbors rather than repeatedly unicasting the routing update to each neighbor on an individual basis. RIPv2 multicasting also can implement filters to prevent RIPv2 routing updates from being received by RIPv1 routers.
