Summary

RIP was designed for use with small networks with both static configurations and stable links. Because of issues with no dynamic load balancing, slow convergence, bandwidth consumption of routing updates, fixed cost metrics, and hop count limit, RIP is not well suited to large internetworks or to internetworks supporting real-time networked applications.
