Additional Fees Hidden Costs

Additional Fees & Hidden Costs

You may run into other fees and costs not specifically covered in this chapter. That's because some Web consultants and ISPs break down their fees, separating items that are often "included" in fees charged by other Web consultants or ISPs. Or perhaps the Web consultant or ISP can't provide a specific service and you need to hire someone else to provide it.

For example, The Chicago Safe Company Web site (see Figure 3.1) may have been expensive (by my standards, anyway), but you have to admit that the graphics look good. Fortunately, the cost of preparing them was included in the price tag. But some Web developers don't have the skills necessary to create good graphics. If they can't do the job, someone else has to. And that's where additional fees may arise.

Just as some people can't draw, others can't write. That's where professional writers, stepping in as content authors, can help. They can take the most ho-hum business and write a description about it that makes it sound great. But be prepared to pay for this service if it isn't something your Web designer provides.
