Table AutoFormat


Word's Table AutoFormat feature offers a quick and easy way to combine many formatting options for an entire table.

To use Table AutoFormat

1.

Select the table that you want to format (Figure 94).

Choose Table > Table AutoFormat (Figure 18) to display the Table Auto-Format dialog (Figure 95).

3.

Click to select one of the formats in the scrolling list.

4.

Toggle check boxes in the Apply special formats to area to specify which part(s) of the table should get the special formatting.

5.

When you're finished setting options, click OK. The formatting for the Auto-Format is applied to the table (Figure 96).

Tips

  • Each time you make a change in the Table AutoFormat dialog (Figure 95), the Preview area changes to show the effect of your changes.

  • The Table AutoFormat dialog (Figure 95) applies table styles to the selected cells. You can also use this dialog to create new table styles or modify existing ones. Styles are discussed in Chapter 4.

  • If you don't like the formatting applied by the Table AutoFormat feature, use the Undo command to reverse it. Then try again or format the table manually.


To remove AutoFormatting

Follow steps 1 and 2 above, but select Table Grid in the scrolling list (Figure 95) in step 3, and then click OK.
