The Scrapbook


The Scrapbook enables you to "collect and paste" multiple items. You simply display the Scrapbook (Figure 61), then use the Copy to Scrapbook command to copy selected text or other objects to the Scrapbook rather than to the Clipboard. You can then use the Paste from Scrapbook command to paste a selected Scrapbook item into your Word document.

Tips

  • The Scrapbook was referred to as the Office Clipboard in Word X.

  • The Scrapbook works with all Microsoft Office applicationsnot just Wordso you can store items from different types of Office documents.


To display the Scrapbook

Choose Tools > Scrapbook (Figure 62). The Scrapbook appears in a palette beside the document window.

To add an item to the Scrapbook

1.

If necessary, display the Scrapbook (Figure 61).

2.

Select the text or object you want to copy (Figure 51).

3.

Choose Edit > Copy to Scrapbook (Figure 63) or press . The selection appears in the Scrapbook (Figure 64).

To use Scrapbook items

1.

If necessary, display the Scrapbook.

2.

In the document window, position the insertion point where you want to place the Scrapbook item (Figure 65).

3.

In the Scrapbook, select the item you want to paste into the document (Figure 65).

4.

Click the Paste button in the Scrapbook, choose Edit > Paste from Scrapbook (Figure 66), or press .

Or

1.

If necessary, display the Scrapbook.

2.

Drag the item you want to use from the Scrapbook into the document window.

The item you pasted or dragged appears in the document window (Figure 67).

To remove Scrapbook items

1.

In the Scrapbook window, select the item you want to remove (Figure 65).

2.

Click the Delete button in the Scrapbook.

3.

A dialog like the one in Figure 68 appears. Click Delete.

The item is removed from the Scrapbook.
