Getting VBA Help


The Microsoft Visual Basic Editor's Help menu offers commands for accessing an extensive onscreen help system. This help system provides a wealth of information about using the editor. It also provides valuable information about the VBA language to help you write, edit, or debug macros.

In this part of the chapter, I explain how to access Visual Basic Help and tell you what you can expect to find within it.

To access Visual Basic Help

1.

While using the Visual Basic Editor (Figure 11), choose Help > Visual Basic Help (Figure 16). A Microsoft Office Help window appears (Figure 17).

Enter a Search word or phrase in the box on the left side of the window and click Search.

In the right side of the window, click the link for the help topic you want to browse.

Click links in the Microsoft Office Help window to browse Help topics (Figure 18).

Tip

  • As you can see, Visual Basic Help is very similar to Word Help. I discuss Word Help in more detail in Chapter 2; consult that chapter for instructions and tips for using Help.
