Spin the wheel, win a prize!
An electronics company believes in keeping employees in the game— literally.
Supervisors give employees stickers or certificates in recognition for a job well done. Employees who collect four or more are eligible to play “the game” at the next monthly employee meeting.
The game varies each month (roulette wheel, bowling, fishing, etc.) and employees can win a simple prize, usually valued at $5 to $7.
The game doesn’t cost very much, and that’s just the point, says their director of general affairs. “The purpose of rewards and recognition is not to compensate employees for their extra effort on the job; it is a small token for a large amount of thanks and gratitude.”
