“Outstanding leaders go out of their way to boost the self-esteem of their personnel. If people believe in themselves, it is amazing what they can accomplish.”
—Sam Walton, former CEO, Wal-Mart
Have you ever noticed the common theme running through superhero movies? Before Spiderman or Superman or the Incredible Hulk can accomplish anything, they have to believe in themselves and their purpose.
And so do your employees. You have a responsibility for a group of people who will spend a large part of their lives at work. They need to find the areas where they excel. They need to believe that they have the skills and ability to do their jobs well.
Recognition enhances employee self-esteem and empowers them to achieve. Who knows? They may even find ways to do things no one has ever done before. (Sounds a little like a superhero to us.)
