The complexity and simplicity of Management Information - a paradox
Why do we need Management Information?

Some detail within Management Information
If you ask anyone to explain what is meant by the term "Software Metrics," chances are that they will describe the provision of information through some form of statistical analysis applied to collected data; in other words, the furnishing of management information. Now, there is a mouthful! This aspect of the subject is probably the most traditional form of Software Metrics.
What I hope to do in this chapter is consider why such information is wanted by managers; how it should, and perhaps more importantly should not, be collected; and, how such information should be presented.
