I hope that this chapter has introduced some different ideas that you may not have come across before. Of course it is a very personal view of which topics are receiving attention in terms of applied research today and which may be important in the near future. There are many things happening today in the broad spectrum of activity covered by the term Software Metrics and even if only some of them impact on our engineering discipline then the face of that discipline will undergo major change over the next few years.
