Section 11.1. Enabling Folder Actions

11.1. Enabling Folder Actions

Don't lose sleep imagining the possibilitiesyet. Before you start linking up scripts to your folders, you first have to turn on folder actions on a system-wide level. Luckily, that's a simple procedure: just Control-click anywhere on the desktop, and choose Enable Folder Actions from the shortcut menu. That tells your Mac to start paying attention to all the folder changes you make, and to trigger scripts accordingly.

If you'd like to turn on folder actions without switching to the Finder first, open the Script Menu (Section 1.1) and choose Folder Actions Enable Folder Actions.

You won't see anything different in the Finder, but folder actions are now available for any folder on your Mac.
