Premium Edition Versus Standard Edition

Adobe Creative Suite 2 is available in two configurations. The Premium Edition contains five main applicationsPhotoshop CS2 and ImageReady CS2, Illustrator CS2, InDesign CS2, GoLive CS2, and Acrobat 7.0 Professionalas well as Version Cue CS2 and Bridge. The Standard Edition does not include GoLive CS2 or Acrobat 7.0 Professional (but it does contain Version Cue CS2 and Bridge).

So which one do you need? If you plan to publish websites, you'll want to have GoLive, so the Premium Edition is the right choice. If you need to do more with PDF files than just create them from other applications, you'll also need Acrobat Pro, so again the Premium Edition is what you'll need.

Although this book does cover the Premium Edition of the suite, it also will prove useful to owners of the Standard Edition because many of the tasks and projects listed here don't necessarily require GoLive or Acrobat Pro. Reading about those tools throughout the book will also give you a better understan- ding of the workflows and uses for those applications.

By the Way

The Adobe Creative Suite Premium Edition has a plant with five leaves as its image because it contains five products. The Standard Edition has a plant with three leaves as its image because it contains three products.
