Summary

In this hour, you learned about the Network Access layer, the most diverse and arguably the most complex layer in the TCP/IP protocol stack. The Network Access layer defines the procedures for interfacing with the network hardware and accessing the transmission medium. There are many types of LAN architectures and therefore many different forms that the Network Access layer can take. This hour also described the contents of an ethernet frame and briefly discussed ethernet, token ring, and FDDI.
