Why This Chapter Matters

The goal of this chapter is to teach you to resolve end-user requests regarding Microsoft Office applications, including Word 2003, Excel 2003, PowerPoint 2003, and Outlook 2003. You will learn ways, including using Microsoft Office Online, to resolve issues with these applications. You will also learn how to perform ordinary tasks in each application and resolve common end-user requests. In addition to these Office applications, Microsoft Outlook Express is covered.

Although it would be impossible to detail all aspects of the Office applications effectively in the space provided in this chapter, be aware that you must be familiar with each application’s toolbars, features, and components; know how to recover lost files; and be able to use and troubleshoot the main components of each application. You should also know how to use the available online tools to resolve issues that you are not familiar with and to learn new skills.

Before You Begin

Before you begin this chapter, you should have Office 2003 installed on your computer. You should also be familiar with the concepts discussed in Chapter 4, “Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Express,” and Chapter 6, “Install and Configure Office Applications.”
