Why This Chapter Matters

The goal of this chapter is to teach you how to install and configure Microsoft Office applications for end users in either a corporate or a home environment. Installation includes verifying that the software to be installed is compatible with the computer’s operating system and hardware, understanding and verifying license and minimum hardware requirements, and using program compatibility mode when software is not compatible. After installation, you will learn how to configure the applications to meet the user’s specific needs. Configuration tasks include setting up proofing tools, using fonts and localized templates, personalizing dictionaries, customizing menus and toolbars, and configuring print options.
