Acknowledgments

Getting a book like this written, edited, and published doesn’t happen without the help of a lot of people. This book has been an enormous project, and I’d like to extend my thanks to everyone who worked on it. Julie Pickering, our project manager, did a fantastic job coordinating everyone’s effort. Elise Morrison worked hard to make sure the book was of the highest quality, and that everyone involved turned in their best effort. And Randall Galloway, our technical editor, provided a detailed technical review, as well as advice and support along the way.

Thanks also to Daniel Akins, who wrote the defrag.vbs script for running Disk Defragmenter automatically so that it can be scheduled. This tool is included on the book’s CD.

And as always, I’d like to thank Neil Salkind and everyone else at StudioB for helping put this project together.

—Walter Glenn

I would like to give thanks to the unsung heroes who do not have their names printed on the cover of this book. Thanks to Julie Pickering for being a project manager who knows how to reach deadlines while still keeping the creativity of the authors in mind. Thanks to content development manager Elise Morrison for her assistance and one-on-one collaboration with me during those sticky periods. Thanks to technologist Randall Galloway for giving up a part of his life to ensure that the words I wrote were accurate.

Thanks also to Walter Glenn, who has the talent and ability to turn a potentially stressful situation into a pleasurable and always memorable experience.

I, too, want to acknowledge my literary agent and mentor Neil Salkind, who has kept me busy from day one.
