As a desktop support technician (DST), one of your responsibilities is to help users keep their computer running well and to troubleshoot performance problems when they occur. This chapter covers basic measures that you can take to improve operating system performance. It also covers the two major tools that Windows XP provides for monitoring and troubleshooting performance: Task Manager and the Performance tool.
