I’d like to dedicate this book to my father, Bill English. (No, not my coauthor—just a curious coincidence.)

I’d like to dedicate this book to my wife, Kathy English.
Your love and support are unending.

Acknowledgments

As usual, a lot of people did a lot of work to put this book into your hands. Foremost, I’d like to thank my co-author, Bill English, for all his work. He signed on to the previous edition of this book at the last moment when another author dropped out. Bill took up the challenge and did a great job, and he’s done that same great job this time around. I’d also like to thank Nick Cavalancia for a great technical review.

I’d also like to thank the folks at Microsoft Press for guiding this book through its various stages. Jeff Koch, our acquisitions editor, showed his faith in the project and in us. Maureen Zimmerman and Karen Szall, our project managers, helped to make sure that this book is of the best quality and that it was published on schedule.

Finally, as always, I’d like to thank Neil Salkind and everyone else at StudioB for helping put this project together.

It seems like just last week that Walter and I were working on the Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server Administrator’s Companion, and here we are, putting out this book on Microsoft Exchange Server 2003. The time sure has gone by fast. But maybe it just seems that way because I’m a bit older than I was in 2000.

I’d first like to thank Walter Glenn, my co-author. Walter is a great co-author, one on whom I can count to write great chapters. Thanks, Walter, for doing this project again and for being an easy person to work with. I’d also like to thank Jeff Koch, Karen Szall, and Maureen Zimmerman at Microsoft Press for keeping this project on track, as well as Nick Cavalancia for doing a great job of performing the technical edit this book. Nick added real value with his comments and insights, and I’m very grateful for his assistance.

I’d also like to thank Neil Salkind and the StudioB folks for helping to guide this project through every stage. Neil, you did your usual great job!

I’d also like to thank my wife, Kathy, for her support, encouragement, and love as I continue to keep weird and (sometimes) insane hours to get these books out the door. Your understanding, Kathy, is really amazing.

Finally, I’d like to thank Jesus Christ, who gave me the opportunity to write this book and without whom I’d be lost forever.
