Chapter 12 -- Using Routing and Administrative Groups

[Previous] [Next]

Chapter 12

In earlier versions of Microsoft Exchange Server, both the routing boundaries and the administrative boundaries were defined by the site. In Exchange 2000 Server, these two functions are broken out into routing groups and administrative groups. A routing group is a collection of Exchange 2000 servers that enjoy permanent, high-bandwidth connectivity. Routing groups are most often based on the physical topology of your network. Administrative groups are purely logical and are used to group individual administrative functions together to fit a company's organizational criteria. In this chapter, you will learn how to define and administer routing groups and administrative groups in Exchange 2000 Server.
