Chapter 21

In today's networks, resources need to be as available as possible. They also need to be as secure as possible. This chapter focuses on the latter need. Because Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server is tightly integrated with Microsoft Windows 2000, a major part of this chapter will focus on Windows 2000. Microsoft Windows 2000 supports a comprehensive public-key infrastructure (PKI) to ensure the security of messaging for Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server. Certificate Services and the PKI are the two foundations upon which you will design, deploy, and maintain your public-key security needs.

MORE INFO
It is well beyond the scope of this book to cover most of the security concepts associated with Windows 2000. If you would like to learn more about Windows 2000 security, consult the Microsoft Windows 2000 Security Technical Reference (Microsoft Press, forthcoming).
