Orcia LandscapeThis is the same photo used in the Punto image from Chapter 9, a landscape taken in the Orcia valley. The morning light and saturated colors set this photo apart, as does the composition and division of space. Orcia Landscape Galgano BenchThis is another photo used in the Punto composition; a bench in a chapel on the grounds of San Galgano. I think the simplicity and boldness of shapes helped make this a useful photo in my compositing and montage efforts. Galgano Bench Sant Olivetto WoodsThe brilliant light of the Tuscany region really made this photo work. The sun was strong and directional, breaking through a bank of foliage, backlighting the main trees. This cast a strong reflected light on the subject tree, bringing out details while maintaining an interesting contrast ratio. Sant Olivetto Woods Pink TreesThis photo was all about the pink wall. It was shot in the same area as the Sant Olivetto photo, basking in the same directional light. I set the exposure to emphasize and saturate the wall, intentionally overexposing and blowing out the grass. The strong color, bold stripes of the trees, and bright grass give this photo an abstract quality. Pink Trees Drips2I used a scanned image in the Molecola Sogni image similar to this one. I created random ink drips on paper and transferred them using an intaglio printing press to another sheet. The resulting image was scanned on a flatbed scanner to create this digital file.
