Distribution

After a video or project has been finished, it can be distributed. Distribution of a major motion picture is very complex and entails the sale, duplication, and delivery of thousands of film prints to theaters. Distribution of the Fabrikam project, on the other hand, is about as easy as it gets. All they have to do is publish the project in Producer, and then promote the course online and in e-mail.

When the Fabrikam producers publish a project, Producer compresses and encodes a Windows Media file of the audio and video, and then packages it with other files that include the PowerPoint slides, table of contents, the quiz and contact pages, and templates pages. Then Producer copies the package of files to the Training site, which is actually another workspace of the SharePoint Portal Server that hosts the Media Guide site.
