Ivanhoe Wrap Party

To describe the production of a Web broadcast, we will follow along as the Contoso team creates an event for the Live Event Channel. The event is an end-of-production party for the cast and crew of a fictitious movie, Ivanhoe, based on the book by Sir Walter Scott. The “wrap party,” will be held on the production’s soundstage in Los Angeles. Contoso Movies Online has negotiated the exclusive rights to be there with their cameras and to stream the event on their site.

End users can come to the live channel page and join the party. Coverage of the party will include interviews with the stars. There will also be speeches by the director and studio executives, as well as some live musical entertainment. The evening will be loosely structured and filled with surprises. The coverage will begin at approximately 8:00 PM, and will run until approximately 10:00 PM, but there is no time limit. Two of the movie’s actors have agreed to host the Web event, and end users can interact with them and the stars by joining the online chat.

The first step in putting together the production after the agreements have been formalized is planning: deciding how to accomplish the production and making all the necessary arrangements. This stage is called pre-production.
