In Chapter 9, "Presenting Numbers by Using Data Charts," you learned how to present numbers visually by using data charts. You can also present ideas visually by using diagrams. Certainly you can use graphic images to communicate ideas, but diagrams also help to show relationships between ideas or concepts. Consider, for example, Figure 10.1, which shows conceptually that more people buy cars that cost less than buy cars that cost more. Figure 10.1. Diagrams help illustrate relationships and concepts and organization charts can illustrate relationships other than those found in business organizations.
Another type of specialized diagram is an organization chart, which typically shows relationships between people but can also show relationships between products, plant or animal groups, or political groups, to name just a few examples (refer to Figure 10.1). |
