Chapter 4. Object-Oriented PHP

The basic concept of object orientation is about three decades old and has been implemented in many programming languages, such as Smalltalk and many others. In recent years, object orientation has become more and more popular.

PHP can be used as a procedural language as well as an object-oriented language. This feature makes PHP flexible and powerful because it offers concepts for almost all programmers.

This chapter focuses entirely on object orientation. You will be guided through the basic concepts of object orientation and PHP's syntax for dealing with objects.
