Generating Multidimensional Results on the Database Level

In this section, you learn how multidimensional data can be generated on the application level and how to build complex queries step by step, using views and temporary tables. Let's start with an example.

Imagine a report with dozens of tables about a certain topic (a labor market, for example). The tables contain the number of employees belonging to a certain gender (every column contains a certain gender). The rows contain the states where people are employed (for example, Alaska or Florida). Every table shows the number of people employed in a certain part of the economy (for example, agriculture or finance).
