This template picks up where the previous project left off. After matching Logic's Song tempo to the audio file drumkit.aif and creating a four bar drum loop in Project 11, the file was further processed in Project 12 and sliced up, ReCycle style, into 34 separate Regions. On speeding up the song we found that things sounded OK. However, on slowing the tempo down to 80 bpm, nasty sounding clicks were appearing at Region boundaries. How do we get rid of them?
Follow these steps:
In the Arrange window set up a cycle for the first bar. At this tempo, 80 bpm, there are clicks all over the place! Double-click on the first Region and the Sample Editor opens.
In the Sample Editor - Play the selected Region. You'll notice that some of the hi-hat from the following Region has been caught at the end (Figure P13.1).
Create a fade [Functions > Fade Out] to get rid of it. Alternatively, in the Arrange window use the Fade tool. I prefer the latter method.
Double-click on the fifth Region. You'll see that a tiny bit of hi-hat, from the previous Region, has been caught at the beginning. This time, adjust the Region's start time to cut it out (Figure P13.2).
Check each Region in turn and make adjustments.
Save Song compare to project13/13.1.
NOTE
An easy way to create fade-ins, fade-outs and crossfades? Use the Fade tool. The crossfades can be defined in the Crossfades window [Audio > Default Audio Crossfade Options ...]
