Summary

3 4

In this chapter, you've learned how to use the SQLServerAgent service to automate some of your administrative tasks by defining jobs and operators, setting up notification to operators, and creating event alerts and performance condition alerts. You've learned the importance of error severity levels in creating alerts on events and how to alter the logging status of an error message to enable it to be logged in the Windows NT or Windows 2000 application event log. And you've learned how to view the SQLServerAgent error log file, which records information about SQLServerAgent and any errors and warnings that occur during alerts and jobs. In Chapter 32, we'll look at backing up SQL Server databases.
