Summary

3 4

This chapter has given you an idea of the duties and the responsibilities of the SQL Server DBA. Of course, this book can't tell you exactly what your responsibilities will be. Companies might have hundreds of DBAs running their databases or only one or two. Just as the number of DBAs varies from company to company, the responsibilities of the DBA vary as well.

Some DBAs have responsibilities in addition to day-to-day database management, such as system design and application development. The duties of the DBA depend on both the needs of the company and the skills of the DBA. The more skills and experience that you acquire, the more valuable you become to your company.
