Using indexes can be a great way to improve database performance. In this chapter, you have learned about SQL Server indexes, including index terminology and concepts, the index creation process, and the ways in which indexes are used. You've learned about clustered and nonclustered indexes, unique and nonunique indexes, and full-text indexes. We examined page splitting and fill factor concepts, rebuilding indexes, and updating index statistics. In Chapter 18, you'll learn how to create and use views, another type of auxiliary structure used to create a subset or superset of a table.
