Value Added Services

AAA in a service-provider environment can also be critical in the delivery of value added services. These services might include quality of service, tunnels, and other services out of the scope of a simple authorization. Service providers can also provide assistance with billing and accounting for usage. Many of these functions require an authorization by an AAA server.

The days of only supporting dialup are a thing of the past. Service providers now require newer access methods that, in turn, require different authentication methods such as EAP-TLS, EAP-MD5, and EAP-Cisco Wireless (LEAP) to meet customer needs.
