5. Conclusion

The intelligent video exploration is based on the fact that the large video bases agree to feed information about their user's reading, shopping and entertainment habits into systems that are already tracking the moves of millions of video users, recording where they go and what they read, often without a user knowledge.

The future video bases, particularly video web services, will amass detailed records of who uses their video bases and how they use them. However, this "new" future industry highlights the most ambitious effort yet to gather disparate bits of personal information into central databases containing electronic information on potentially every person who surfs the video bases. Profiling explorations are in the interest of the user, providing more customized and directed services through the video bases.

Many users may see the practice of video profiling as a violation of basic privacy rights. The system will extract, represent and distribute the data without user consent. In the context of web profiling, many marketing agencies discuss mechanisms for 'opt out,' whereby a user can decide when and where they want their data to be collected and processed. The proliferation of video bases will certainly highlight discussions on such mechanisms. However, in the context of web profiling, many privacy organizations are demanding an 'opt in' policy should be the norm, whereby users are given the freedom to choose anonymity over profiling. When we consider video bases over the Internet, the future of an unrestrained online and industry is clear: hundred of millions of personal documents will contain vast amounts of information about every aspect of people's behaviors. Moreover, this requires the achievement of two objectives that seem to be contradictory: the development of efficient customized-exploration tools with respect for privacy rights.
