IMAP
Internet Message Access Protocol, a protocol that organizes messages on the server and you choose messages to download by viewing their headers.
import
The process of converting a file format created in another program.
importance
The urgency of a message. Messages can be of High, Normal, or Low importance.
Inbox
The default message folder in Outlook. Typically, incoming messages are delivered to the Inbox.
Included Content components
A set of Web components that you can use to create links to the text or graphics you want to display on a Web page, rather than inserting them directly.
indent markers
Markers shown along the horizontal ruler that are used to control how text is indented on the left or right side of a document.
indented index
An index that uses subentries on separate lines below the main entries.
index
A list of the topics, names , and terms used in a document along with the page numbers where they are found. An index typically appears at the end of a document.
index entry
An entry in the body of a document that tags terms to be included in the Word s automated construction of an index. See also XE .
input mask
A field property that determines what data can be entered in the field, how the data looks, and the format in which it is stored.
insertion point
The blinking vertical line that appears in the document or presentation window, indicating where text or objects will appear when you type or insert an object.
instant messaging
A method of communication in which you send electronic messages that appear on the recipient s screen immediately.
Internet mail
A type of e-mail account that requires that you connect to the e-mail server over the Internet. POP3, IMAP, and HTTP (for example, Hotmail) are examples of Internet mail accounts.
Internet Protocol (IP) address
The number that uniquely identifies a specific computer on the Internet.
Internet Service Provider (ISP)
A company that provides individuals or organizations with the necessary software and information to get access to the Internet, and with the Internet connection itself. Many ISPs also serve as Web hosts . See also Web hosting company .
intranet
A secure, proprietary Web-based network used within a company or group and accessible only to its members .
IP address

Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPG)
A graphics format used for photos and other graphics with more than 256 colors.
Journal entry
An item in the Journal folder that acts as a shortcut to an activity that has been recorded. You can distinguish a Journal entry from other items by the clock that appears in the lower left corner of the icon.
