Chapter 2 -- Creating Object and Project Templates

Chapter 2

If you or your development team creates numerous projects, you can save considerable development time and promote application consistency by creating and using object and project templates. Consultants , for instance, often create many different applications for many different clients . When consultants reduce their work through code and object reuse, they enjoy higher profits and shorter development cycles.

If you develop numerous applications, chances are good that you create components that are often very similar, if not identical, from project to project. You might use a common splash screen or a common About box and copyright form. Or you might have a common switchboard form or a custom browse-for-file class. In these cases, you can make some small changes to the objects, add them to your integrated development environment (IDE) as templates, and use them to kick-start new development projects and ensure a more consistent look and feel across all of your applications.
