USING THE ADDRESS LIST

To open the Address Book, click the Address Book icon on the Home screen. The screen shown in Figure 10.1 is the Address List screen and is the starting point for anything done in the Address Book.

Figure 10.1. The Address List screen provides access to all contacts saved to your Address Book.

The Address List screen displays the name and/or company of each contact in the Address Book. If only a name is given, just that name is shown. If only a company is given, then the company name is shown. If both are given, they are both shown with the name first.

Notice the lack of the Use Once entry. This entry is not available when accessing the Address Book directly. It is only shown when the Address Book is opened through the Compose icon or menu items such as Place Call or Compose Email in the Messages application.

note

You can also open the Address Book from the Phone application by clicking the View Address Book menu item.

If you are like most people, you tend to get a lot of addresses in your Address Book, and scrolling through the list one at a time is cumbersome. You can scroll through the list one screenful at a time by pressing the Alt key while scrolling the trackwheel up or down. There is also a Find feature, which we will talk about more later in this chapter in the "Finding Addresses" section.
