Summary

In this chapter, we discussed the operation of Web services over P2P networks. We started with the three Web service domains discovery, description, and invocation. We then mentioned the advantages of operating Web services over P2P networks. We also proposed a SOAP-over-P2P application architecture and presented a couple of use cases. We then used JXTA as a sample P2P network and provided a skeleton implementation that can advertise Web services over P2P networks, as well as look for and invoke SOAP services published by other peers. Finally, we proposed a few improvements in our sample implementation as food for thought for the readers.
