Modifying and Deleting Existing Titles

When you add a title clip, it actually exists on top of your footage. If you don't like the way it turned out, you can easily change its properties, or get rid of it altogether.

To modify an existing title:

1.

Select the title clip.

2.

Make any changes you wish in the Titles pane.

3.

Click the Update button to apply your changes (Figure 12.20).

Figure 12.20. The Update button becomes active if you select a clip with a title applied. Change its settings and click Update to re-render the clip.

To delete a title:

1.

Select the offending title clip.

2.

Press the Delete key, which removes the title from the Timeline and sends it to the Trash. You can also drag the clip to the Trash if you're in the Clip Viewer. Or, you can choose Cut or Clear from the Edit menu.

Tip

  • You can always pull a title clip out of iMovie's trash if you need to. However, deleting a title breaks any connection to your original footage, so if you move a title from the trash to the timeline, it won't be superimposed over your footage; instead, it will be a new, separate clip. You're better off just re-creating the title.
