Changing the Duration of a Still Clip

Now that your picture has been added to iMovie, it can be edited like any other clip (see Chapter 8). However, if you haven't applied the Ken Burns Effect (see the next page), the change you're most likely to make is to the clip's duration. Instead of trimming the clip, simply tell iMovie how long the clip should be.

To change a picture's duration:

1.

Double-click the still clip, or choose Show Info from the File menu (or, press Command-I).

2.

In the Clip Info dialog, enter a new value into the Duration field (Figure 9.9). The field uses timecode format (seconds:frames, though you could also enter a full hours:minutes:seconds:frames value such as 01:34:25:19 if you wanted).

Figure 9.9. Double-click a still clip to access the Clip Info screen, where you can change the duration value.

Tips

  • Use the Duration field in the Photo Settings palette to change the duration of multiple selected photos.

  • Other video clips do not have an editable Duration field in the Clip Info dialog.
