A. Electrolytes

Green top (heparinized) or tiger top (serum separator).

B. CBC, blood bank

Lavender top (EDTA as anticoagulant)

C. General chemistries

Red top (plain, allows clotting).

D. PT/PTT

Blue top (citrate). Test is not accurate if tube not filled.

E. Glucose

Grey top (K oxalate)

F. Hypercoagulability panel

Usually 4 blue tops and a large red top.
