Troubleshooting Video

The following are some video-related issues that have cropped up.

Frames Saved as JPEG Are Cropped

When you save a frame to disk as a JPEG file, the right side of the image is cropped. To get around this (using an admittedly lengthy and wonky process), export your video to QuickTime using the Full Quality DV setting, then open the QuickTime movie in the QuickTime Player application. Locate the frame you want using the scrubber bar and choose Export from the File menu. At the bottom of the Save Exported File As dialog box, set the Export popup menu to Movie to Picture, and set the Use popup menu to Photo-JPEG, then click the Save button.

Imported Image Files Turn White

If pictures are turning white, try cropping them in iPhoto, then using the Pictures pane in iMovie to bring them into your project.

Also, the PICT format isn't supported well in iMovie 3. Convert your PICT image files to JPEG in an image editing program before importing them into iMovie.
