Add Clips to Timeline

It may not be high-tech, but I find it essential to make a quick outline of the movie's high points to use as a road map.

I also spend some time renaming significant clips to help identify them while editing.

Click once on the clip's name to edit.

Highlight the current name.

Type a new name, and press Return.

1.

Click the Clip Viewer button to display that mode of the timeline.

2.

Drag one or more clips from the Shelf to the Clip Viewer. Congratulations, you've just made a (rough) movie!

3.

Continue to drag the clips you want to use into the timeline. Don't worry about the order that they're inyour goal at this point is to put together a rough assembly of the raw materials you'll be working with. Any clip added to the timeline becomes part of your movie.
