Chapter 2. SharePoint Portal Server Features and Capabilities
In this chapter, we discussed the three main features of SharePoint Portal Server, which are rich enterprise search, integrated document management, and the robust portal capabilities that can be accomplished using the digital dashboard technology. We expanded on the core capabilities at a high level, in an effort to prepare you for the in-depth discussions on how these features are utilized and referenced throughout the book. In addition to the core capabilities, we also discussed client and server requirements and limitations. The next three chapters will explore these three main features in more detail. Our goal is to provide an increasingly more in-depth understanding of these features and capabilities, and put it all together with the real world scenarios and troubleshooting chapters toward the end of the book.
