Chapter 14.  Customizing Dashboards


To improve the performance of the dashboard, it is recommended that you consider using of Web Part caching. To view or change the Web Part cache settings, do the following:

  1. Log in as a Workspace Coordinator.

  2. Open Internet Explorer and type the URL of the dashboard whose Web Parts you want to configure in the address bar.

  3. If any of the Service Pack 1 dashboard performance optimizations have been applied, click on the icon with the four little squares next to the Help link in the top right corner.

  4. Click the Content link in the top of the dashboard.

  5. In Web Parts, select the Web Part that you want to view or configure.

  6. On the General Settings page for the Web Part, click Show Advanced Settings.

  7. At the very bottom of the page you will find the caching settings, following the question "Should the content of this Web Part be cached?". For example, to enable caching across all users, click "Yes", select "All Users" in the list, and specify an appropriate time-out in seconds.

  8. Click Save to close the Web Part Settings page.

  9. Click Save to close the Content page.
