Chapter  12.   Creating Categories

In conclusion, categories can be a very efficient method of organizing your portal's content to facilitate searches and allow quick access to documents, content, and links to a particular set of subjects. By providing this functionality to the end users of your workspace, you will enable them to retrieve the information they need easily, and therefore address the real "work" of their jobs rather than spending time searching for information. If you plan on introducing categories in your workspace, though, you will need to plan, implement, and manage this feature effectively to be successful. That is, continued maintenance of your category structure is essential to providing the potential value that categories promise.
