Looking Ahead

This chapter has discussed ways to use the two main data object libraries, DAO and ADO, to manipulate objects in databases. You've seen how to use DAO to create an Access database from scratch. You've also seen how to use both DAO and ADO to create tables and fields. The latter part of this chapter has described how you create and type both DAO and ADO recordsets.

This is necessary groundwork for the real crux of managing data from the Excel platform. Chapter 11, "Getting Data from Access and into Excel with ADO and DAO," goes into the detail of moving data into database tables, and retrieving it to Excel from recordsets based both on tables and queries.
