Editing an Existing Template

There might be times when you want to modify an existing template, such as for a recurring meeting where one of the attendees is no longer involved. To edit an existing Outlook template, use the following steps:

  1. Select File, New, Choose Form to display the Choose Form dialog box as shown in Figure 20.2.

  2. Use the Look In drop-down box to select the User Templates in File System option.

  3. Select your template and click Open.

  4. Make any changes required to the form. To delete a member from a meeting request, highlight the member's name and click Delete.

  5. Select File, Save As and change the Save As type drop-down to Outlook Template.

  6. You should see your existing template listed. Select the name of your existing template and click Save. Outlook will ask you whether you're sure that you want to replace the existing file. Click Yes when you're certain you have the correct template name selected.

CAUTION

When saving a template, be sure to select the right template name in the Save As dialog box; otherwise, you could overwrite a template other than the one you were editing.


Launch your new template to be sure that your changes were correctly applied.
