Bonus Tutorial 3: Making a Jukebox, by Joyce J. Evans

 < Day Day Up >

Overview

In this tutorial, you are going to be using a bitmap image of a jukebox. It was a photo that was traced in Flash using the Trace Bitmap feature. When you press one of the numbered buttons, a song plays. When you press the Stop button, the song stops. The title, artist name, and file size all display dynamically (using dynamic text boxes) as each song is selected. To complete this project, follow these steps:

  1. Open jukeboxstart.fla from the jukebox folder in the Bonus Tutorials folder.

  2. Double–click the layer name and name it jukebox.

  3. You are done with this layer and don't want to make modifications to it, so lock it by clicking the red dot under the lock icon (the center dot). The red x over the pencil icon indicates that this layer is not editable.

  4. Click the plus sign (+) to add a new layer. Double–click the layer, and name it data. To take a little sidetrack, now make the title Movie Clip yourself.

    Note

When you add new layers, be sure the top layer is selected if you want to add a new one on top of it. A new layer is placed above the currently selected layer.
