While Flash has traditionally been considered a designers' tool and ColdFusion a programmers' tool, the release of Macromedia Studio MX has done much to bring the two worlds together. Using a series of tools collectively called Flash Remoting, developers who are used to working in either program can now create integrated applications that share data between a Flash MX interface and ColdFusion MX programming logic. In this chapter, you learn how the two programs communicate, and you construct a basic ecard application to illustrate the basic concepts of Flash Remoting.
Note | To follow along with the Flash Remoting application presented later in this chapter, please install the Flash Remoting components that you can download from: Macromedia's Web site at this URL: http://www.macromedia.com/software/flashremoting/ downloads/components/. |
