In this chapter you learned about ColdFusion custom tags and how they're used to break out related blocks of code from a main template. You learned that by doing so your source code becomes easier to read, by you and other developers who may work on your projects. You also learned how custom tags enable you to write a chunk of code once, and reuse it many times within one or more applications. You created a sample custom tag to compute tax values and learned how to store it and how to call it from a standard ColdFusion template. Finally, you learned about the many situations in which custom tags should be employed, and how to use Macromedia's Developer Exchange to find tags written for a variety of common Web tasks.
